What is Reflexology

Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy based on the principle that the entire body is mirrored in the feet, hands, and face. Every organ, gland, and part of the body corresponds to specific “reflex points” in these areas.

By applying gentle yet precise pressure with the fingers and thumbs, reflexology activates the body’s self-healing mechanisms, supports detoxification, improves circulation, and restores energetic balance. It creates a deep sense of relaxation and helps the body return to its natural state of well-being.

How Reflexology Can Help

Reflexology may support the body in the following ways:

Reducing stress and physical tension

Improving blood and lymphatic circulation

Regulating nervous system function

Relieving headaches and migraines

Supporting digestion and gut health

Enhancing fertility and pregnancy well-being

Promoting hormonal balance (e.g. PMS, menopause)

Improving sleep quality and emotional wellness

Easing musculoskeletal discomfort

Supporting chronic conditions, autoimmune responses, and fatigue

Reflexology is not a substitute for medical treatment, but it can be a powerful complementary approach, supporting the body’s natural ability to heal and rebalance.

Reflexology Therapies

is the most well-known and widely practiced type of reflexology.
By applying gentle pressure to specific points on the feet, it stimulates reflex zones that correspond to organs and systems in the body.
This technique promotes deep relaxation, detoxification, and a return to balance.
It’s ideal during times of stress, fatigue, hormonal shifts, or overall tension in the body.

Spinal Reflexology focuses on the reflex zones of the spine, as mapped on the soles of the feet. This method targets specific vertebral areas, stimulating nerves and organ connections, helping to relieve tension and restore postural and neurological balance.

Ideal for clients experiencing:

  • chronic back or neck pain

  • muscular stiffness

  • stress-related tension or poor posture

Facial Reflexology combines gentle stimulation of reflex points on the face with holistic facial care. The face, reflecting the body’s internal state, often holds signs of stress, imbalance, and fatigue.

Benefits include:

  • improved facial tone and radiance

  • relief from migraines, sinus issues, jaw tension

  • deep relaxation and emotional release

Orthopaedic Reflexology is a specialised approach addressing musculoskeletal imbalances, pain, and restricted mobility. By stimulating targeted reflex zones, it helps to release tension, improve posture, and support natural movement restoration.

Helpful for:

  • plantar fasciitis

  • carpal tunnel syndrome

  • joint or muscle discomfort

Specialized Reflexology

Fertility Reflexology supports reproductive health by encouraging hormonal balance, regulating the menstrual cycle, and reducing stress — all of which may enhance the chances of conception.

It can be used alone or alongside assisted fertility treatments such as IVF or IUI.

Maternity Reflexology provides gentle support during pregnancy, helping to relieve symptoms such as nausea, swelling, fatigue, and emotional shifts. It also nurtures the mother’s connection with her body and baby.

It is entirely safe and adapted to each stage of pregnancy.

Women’s Health Reflexology focuses on balancing the endocrine system and supporting hormonal well-being across all life stages — from puberty and fertility to menopause.

Helpful for:

  • PMS

  • PCOS

  • Thyroid imbalances

  • Menopause and perimenopause

  • Endometriosis

Typical Reflexology Session

Each reflexology session begins with a brief consultation to understand your needs, health background, and any specific concerns. This allows the practitioner to tailor the session according to your physical and emotional condition.

The treatment is performed while you remain fully clothed, lying comfortably on a massage table or reclining chair. Only your socks and shoes are removed.

During the session, the practitioner applies focused pressure to specific reflex points on the feet, hands, or face — depending on your individual needs. The pressure is firm but never painful, and aims to clear blockages and encourage the healthy flow of energy throughout the body.

A typical session lasts around 45 to 60 minutes. The environment is calm and nurturing, often accompanied by soft music, essential oils, or gentle lighting to enhance relaxation.

What to Expect During a Session

  • A sense of deep relaxation and calm

  • A gentle reset of the body’s systems

  • Sometimes, emotional release or light physical reactions (e.g. increased urination, temporary tiredness) as the body rebalances

  • Aftercare advice may be given (hydration, rest, light eating)

Many clients report feeling “lighter,” more centered, and deeply relaxed after a session — both physically and emotionally.

Reflexology & Reiki

The Combined Approach

In certain sessions, Effie integrates both Reflexology and Reiki, offering a unique and deeply holistic experience that supports the body, mind, and energetic field as one.

While Reflexology works through physical pressure points to support the organs, circulation, and overall vitality, Reiki flows subtly through the body’s energy pathways, promoting emotional calm and energetic alignment.

This combination may:

  • Deepen relaxation on all levels

  • Support emotional release and energetic cleansing

  • Strengthen the body’s self-healing abilities

  • Offer a sense of inner reset and harmony

Each session is intuitively tailored to the individual’s needs, making it an ideal choice for those seeking deeper balance and integrated support.
